KUALA LUMPUR: Travel buffs can start planning for their next holiday getaway with the return of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) fair this March.

The travel fair, scheduled to take place on March 16-18 at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), has over 1,300 booths offering a variety of domestic and international value-for-money travel packages.

MATTA honorary secretary General Nigel Wong said they had and always will continue to be Malaysia’s largest travel fair.

“During last September’s fair, we had a sales turnover in access of RM205mil. We have consistently attracted 100,000 visitors to the fair over the last couple of years,” said Wong in a press conference on Tuesday.

This year’s fair will see 1,324 booths in seven halls at PWTC, with international exhibitors taking up 1,027 booths, 207 for domestic exhibitors and 60 offering Umrah packages.

Wong said Japan has become a popular destination among Malaysians and there will be exciting deals in store for travellers.

“We have also partnered with Malaysia Airlines as the official airline … they have promised special rates and prices for consumers,” he added.

Other official partners Include Desaru Coast and Legoland Malaysia Resort, Royal Caribbean International and Merchantrade Asia.

Visitors are encouraged to take public transportation to avoid traffic and parking challenges.

The fair is open from 10am to 9pm and admission is RM4 per person and free for children aged below 12.
